About the Course

The learner will be able to recognize and respond to normal and abnormal pharmacological actions, interactions, and adverse effects of medications; discuss anaphylaxis, bronchodilators, inotropes, vasoconstrictors, beta blockers as well as anxiolytics, induction agents, inhalational anesthetics, opioids and nonopioid medications; discuss how to identify anesthesia implications and treatment of adverse events related to antiemetics, over-the-counter medications, illicit substances, psychiatric medications, as well as diabetic medications [insulin and oral hypoglycemics] and finally discuss anesthetic implications and treatment of adverse events related to fluid, electrolyte, and blood component therapy as well as diuretics and anticoagulants in accordance with evidence-based practice.
